Different Types of Procedures for Infertility and IVF Treatment

Not every couple is lucky enough to become parents with a few trials. There are couples for whom the last hope to realize their dream of becoming parents is to opt for surgical processes. Doctors equip their hospitals and IVF operation theatre with the best possible equipment to increase the success rate of their surgical processes. Based on the problem and reason behind infertility, doctors suggest different types of surgical processes, some of which have been mentioned below:

Hysteroscopy

In this IVF process, a tiny fibre-optic camera is inserted into the uterine cavity through the vagina without needing any incision. Once the camera is inserted, the surgeon then removes scar tissue, fibroids, polyps or a uterine septum.

Laparotomy/Open Surgery

This is like a caesarean section where an incision is made in the lower abdomen. Surgeons need special OT control panels to perform these surgeries on the patient with tubal reanastomosis or other complex endometriosis or fibroids cases. Patients undergoing this surgery also need to stay in the hospital for at least 1-2 nights.

Varicocelectomy

This surgery is performed to remove the varicose veins through a small incision in the groin. Urology doctors conduct this surgery to ensure that the presence of varicose veins in the scrotum doesn’t impact the quality of sperm.

Laparoscopy and Robotic Laparoscopy

This surgery is conducted through small cuts in the abdomen to treat problems like ovarian cysts, fibroids, abnormal fallopian tubes, endometriosis and scar tissue. For these surgeries, doctors don’t need special IVF operation theatre.

Sperm Retrieval

This surgery is conducted to retrieve sperm from the testicles. There are very limited hospitals in India offering this surgical process.

Egg Retrieval

In egg retrieval surgery, surgeons remove the eggs from the ovarian follicle with the help of a thin needle to use in an IVF surgery.

If your hospital also offers IVF surgeries, make sure you have IVF operation theatre with all the latest systems and equipment. If you need to update it, check the options of operation theatre panels and other equipment at Creative Operation Theatre.
